We are a group of students studying Bachelor of Science Degree in Building and Quantity Surveying in the Department of Building and Real Estate at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and tutored by Dr Amos Darko for the Global Student Challenge. We are passionate and enthusiastic about the construction industry and business. The Global Student Challenge has provided us with a unique learning opportunity to apply the theories and knowledge that we have acquired from school to the real-world scenario of running our own virtual construction company. The Challenge has opened our eyes wide to some of the real challenges faced in running a construction company, and more importantly equipped us to adopt innovative solutions to carefully address these challenges, ranging from financial to overheads, estimating, bidding, personnel, and construction challenges. It also provides us with a platform to interact with global participants, who are fellow students from various universities around the world, in the competition. Our aim for competing in this Challenge is to have a better understanding of how to run and continuously improve the performance of a construction company, and the Challenge has more than adequately met our expectations. We believe that this exceptional learning experience lays a solid foundation for our future development. We thank the organizer, our department, and our tutor for their support. We will continue to make progressive achievements in the construction industry.
